the night rating
In order to fly as pilot in command at night with or without passengers, the holder of a PPL(A) must have a Night Rating. For this purpose 'night' means the time between half an hour after sunset and half an hour before sunrise. Sunset and sunrise being determined at surface level.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
An applicant for a night rating must produce evidence of having a PPL.
COURSE DETAILS
The flying training comprises a minimum of 5 hours night flying conducted by a Flight Instructor of which :
- A minimum of 3 hours shall be dual instruction including one hour of night navigation.
- The remainder may be solo and must include 5 solo take-offs and 5 solo full stop landings.
- Ground briefings as required prior to and after each flight as necessary.
