the national private pilot's licence
The National Private Pilot's Licence (NPPL) is aimed at people who want to fly for leisure purposes only.
The differences between the NPPL and the JAR (European) PPL are:
-
Easier to obtain and less flight training is needed.
-
Easier to maintain.
-
Medical undertaken by your own
doctor rather than a CAA doctor.
-
The licence is valid for life (subject to experience requirements).
Restrictions to the NPPL?
-
Only able to fly in UK airspace.
-
Only able to fly in daylight under VFR conditions with a minimum in-flight visibility of 5 kms.
-
Only take up to three passengers.
Flight Training
The NPPL is a course of training requiring a minimum of 32 hours flight training which includes 22 hours dual training and 10 hours solo flight training.
