the jar private pilot's licence
Hundreds of people dream about learning to fly. In this country we have an active and thriving General Aviation
community involving people from all walks of life. Thousands of people obtain a licence to fly fixed wing aircraft each year and here at Bonus Aviation we have contributed significantly to that number.
It is a misconception that a technical or
mathematical mind is required in order to
succeed. People come from all walks of life
to learn to fly and fit in their course with
family and work commitments.
The PPL training can either be taken in the PA38 Tomahawk, C150 or PA28 Archer.
The majority of our PPL students select the PA38 Tomahawk
for their training. Chosen for its reliability and easy handling, the Tomahawk was specifically designed for pilot training. Since its launch in the late 1970's it has been one of the world's most successful trainers.
After you have completed your PPL training we have larger, more advanced aircraft available for hire and advanced training.
The PPL course :
- A minimum of 45 hours flight training.
- Each lesson is approximately 2
hours long and comprises a pre-flight briefing, one hour of flying followed by a post-flight de-briefing.
- The pre and post flight briefings are free of charge, you only pay for the actual training flight itself.
Groundschool
The groundschool exams comprise seven
subjects :-
- Aviation Law and Operating Procedures
- Navigation
- Flight Performance and Planning
- Meteorology
- Radio Telephony
- Human Performance and Limitations
- Aircraft General Knowledge
Do not be daunted by these exams. They
are all adequately covered in the various
text books that we have for sale in our
Pilot Shop. All of the exams are in a
multi-choice format, relatively
straightforward and well within your reach.
Should you
decide, however, that you would like tuition
for the PPL groundschool this is available
with one of our ground instructors. One to one
groundschool tuition is
charged at £17.00 per hour which is
excellent value for money. Feel free
to call Jo to discuss your
groundschool training queries.
